I then installed my vertical dividers, only to find that it's hard as heck to make sure that they're straight and not tilted in any direction, a fact pointed out to me gracefully by Tim when he showed my that my shelves didn't fit into the gaps at any point. I fixed that, which was frustrating and dumb but it turned out fine. Then, I was ready to construct my drawer. However, the bit I needed for the Pocket Drill was nonexistent in the scene shop. Therefore, I took a trip to Woodcraft, a store for masculine people who build things. Once I arrived, I stayed in my car listening to showtunes as I watched men with three times my muscle tone and facial hair walk in, too scared to face them yet. It looked like this:
I finally mustered up the courage and went in, to be helped by a nice young lad named Ben. It turned out great, and I would go back to the store for sure. By the time I got back, I only had time to cut my drawer segments and edge band them. Tim said that if he built this drawer, he wouldn't put edge banding on the top of the sides, but I did anyway because I wanted it to look as good as possible. However, once I did it, I realized why Tim probably wouldn't have done it, because the cutter took off some extra bits and it generally looked kinda shitty, as shown below (you can't see the shittiness that well here but oh well):
I'm hoping to be done tomorrow with my project, if God allows it. Fingers crossed.
Until next time diary,
Nico
