Today in the shop, I really got to work on my tabletop and
bottom shelf. The bottom shelf went fairly smoothly. I only had to rip a 2x
board to size, drilled a few holes to the previously made base and screwed in
the needed screws into place.
I then got to work on the actual tabletop. Before, I was
going to just place a 2x12 board and be done with it. However, I decided to
slightly widen the table so that it was a foot wide, which is wider than the
true size of a 2x12 board. So instead I decided to rip down the board into 3 4”
wide boards, as seen below.
From there I then glued the boards and clamped them together
to give it its initial shape and stability. After, with some advising, I added some pocket
screws to the board to ensure that the boards didn’t separate.
Overall the day went smoothly with very little hiccups. I was pleased to find that the building of the table is becoming easier as time goes on.
