Cost of Project- Andrew Hoffman

Because my dogs are getting older it is hard for them to get onto furniture and hang out with their best friend, me of course. In order to make it easier for them to get on and off the couch, I am going to build a three-step unit that they can use to get on and off.
In order to build this I will need:
2"x6"x10' piece of wood; Priced at $8.37
2 Sanded Oine Sheets of Plywood; Priced at $14.48 (x2 = $28.96)

Total cost of project = $37.33

Miles Fuqua's Updated Project Idea

I plan to do this general bookshelf design except i am gonna alter the size to roughly a 3' x 2' shelf to fit in the space that i am designing it for. For the vertical pieces that make up the shelves i plan to use 1/2" sande plywood and for the base of each shelf i plan to use 3/4" sande plywood.
Approximate Cost:
1 sheet of 1/2" plywood = $31.95
I sheet of 3/4" plywood = $39.98
Total Cost= $71.93

Cost of Project- Aaron Johnson

I am going to build the hallway table as shown in the last post. This project will take two 1"x 4"x12" cedar boards costing $7.12 each and one 1"x6"x8" common whiteboard costing $5.07. The total comes to $19.28. I am still undecided as to whether I will use a stain or not on the table, but if I choose to, one quart of hickory gel stain costs $15.76, bringing the new total cost to $35.04.

Final Project Update & Shopping List

Here is the second draft of my kinkajou palace, with some general front view dimensions
I am planning on building it out of 3/4" plywood (darker) and 1x4 (lighter). The small crosses (they look more like dots, in this shot) represent where eye screws will go.

Preliminary Shopping List:
Quantity               Item                Approx. Price (per piece)   Approx. Price (total)
      2         3/4" 4' x 8' plywood                $50.00                              $100.00
      2         1 x 4 x 8                                  $5.00                                $10.00
      1         Pack of eye screws                 $7.00                                 $7.00

Total price: $117.00

I'm sure there are other things I will need, but I am hoping to keep this project under $150.00.

Final Project Post #2 Madeline Grimes

For my final project I will be making a small cabinet with doors on the front. It will look similar to this:
Cynthia Console by Hooker Furniture at Neiman Marcus...I say you purchase a piece like this an mount the Kohler Brockway double sink on it:
But without the fancy design on the doors. I will use 1x12 for the top (2'), bottom (2'),  and sides (1 1/2' each). For the doors I will build a frame out of 1x4 (two 1' 4 1/2" pieces and two 9 1/2" pieces for each door) and put a sheet (1'1" x 1'1") of metal grate on the inside of the frame for the front of the doors. I will also use 1x4 (4" each) for the legs.
The approximate cost for this project is:
- $19.62 for 8' of 1x12
- $7.30 for 16' of 1x4
- $22.78 for 36" x 36" Cloverleaf Aluminum Sheet, Silver
for a total of $49.70

Final Project Materials and Cost (Bret)

I have narrowed down my final project to building a book shelf. I want this bookshelf to be relatively small. I want the length to be around 2 to 3 feet, the height to be around 4 ft, and the width being 1 foot. I also want to make this bookshelf out of 1x4's, 2x4's, and a sheet of plywood.

I'm going to want 4 8 foot long 2x4s, 1 sheet of 23/32 in. x 4ft. x 8ft. RTD Sheathing syp, and 3 8 foot long 1x4s.

According to Home Depot's Website:
1 sheet of 23/32in plywood will cost around $20.
The 2x4s will cost around $12.68
The 1x4s will cost around $10.95
 Estimated total cost= $43.63

Casey Deal's Final Project Order List

For my project I am going to build a pantry over my micro-fridge! I found this very helpful design of a kitchen pantry that I plan to modify for my shelving.  The dimensions are a little off because the house they are building the pantry for has 9 ft ceilings and my pantry will probably only be 4 ft tall.

http://www.thediyvillage.com/2013/05/build-a-pantry.html

I intend to make my shelves out of Plywood. It should cost a little over $100.

Final Project Possible Costs-Kelsey Osburn

For my final project, I have narrowed it down to building a cubby wall shelf with 18 cubbies that all can display either jewelry or collectibles. The maximum amount I want to spend on this project is $50-$70. I would most likely buy some pieces of 1 x 3 or 1x 4 for the shelves. Then either some 1x8 or 1x12 for the backing or some 1/2" and 3/4" plywood for the backing as well. The plywood is $30 for 4ft x 8ft. The 1x8 is around $20 and the 1x12 is around $30 on home depot and the 1x4 is around $10 and the 1x3 is around $6 on home depot. I'm guessing the total price for my final project will be around $40-$60.

Final Project Materials [Jesse]

The pocket hole machine is 19''x29.5'', so the stand should be slightly longer/wider than that. We want it to be about chest height or a bit higher for easy access, so the stand should be about 5' high.

We will want 4 10-foot 2x4s, probably 1 sheet of 4x8 plywood, 2 or 3 8-foot 1x4s (for the cubbies), and 4 swivel casters.

Going by Home Depot prices, this will cost:
$13.76 for the casters
$15.92 for the 2x4s
$7.30 - $10.95 for the 1x4s
$20 for the plywood.

Estimated total cost: about $58

Secondary post

I'm going to pursue the hexagonal shoe rack that i talked about in my first blog post. These are going to be the necessary components of the project

(2) 2"x 8" x 16' hardwood lumber @Home Depot Total: ($36.34)
Optional:

Total Estimated cost: $36.34
I might decide to stain the product after I am finished, however I'm not going to include that into the price yet because I am unsure if I am willing to spend that much on this project.

Final Project Idea: Gabelmann

The Final Project Idea

I will be constructing a bookcase chair (see below). I would like to make the chair so that it can be taken apart and reassembled as needed. The designs that I researched are similar to what I have in mind, but I would like to use less vertical supports than most of the designs (if possible);

Materials

For this project, I will need 3/4" plywood, 2x2, and 2x1, based on designs that I have researched. Some designs also utilize 2x4. As I go forward in the design process, I will decide which is appropriate for this build.

Cost

Based on the research I did, this chair will cost roughly $112

Hultman Final Project Possible Costs

I have decided on a short bedside nightstand as my final project with 2-3 storage spaces within the nightstand. I’m not willing to spend more than $50 on this project.

The materials required for this project are:
  • (1) 1″ x 18″ x 6′ Board (optional replacement 2x4X12’)→ $19.95, or $3.97
  • (4) 4 inch Tapered Legs → $1.51/each at home depot ($6.04)
  • (4) Table Leg Straight Top Plate → $1.98/each @ HD ($7.92)
  • ¼ inch plywood - “Tri-Ply” @ Home Depot ¼” X 4” X 4” → ($8.97)
  • Round Felt Pad – optional → $6.35

Totals: $49.23 or $33.25

Brandon Donnermeyer Possible Project Ideas

These two ideas are what I'm really interested making for my final design project:

This first one is a bookshelf/ storage area for my books and food that I keep in my dorm room

The second idea is a shoe storage area very similar to the one above.

Between either project I would really liek to limit my budget to no more than $50 for paint and wood

Final Project Ideas - Aubrey

This is the thing I have designed. It is kind of like a cat tree, but for a kinkajou named Henry who is grumpy all the time. This is Henry:
He is about the size of your average cat, and he is nocturnal, and he needs a cool place to sleep.

Final Project Ideas - Nico Champion

Option 1: A closing book bookshelf to keep all my plays in

Option 2: A small wooden box with pull out drawers for small accessories

Option 3: A shoe cubby with some drawers at the top for socks

Option 4: A cutting board shaped like a pig

Possible budget: Prolly like $75 or $100, ideally on the lower end of that

Final Project Ideas- Aaron Johnson

I would like to build either a hallway table, adding a second shelf to a table as shown.

My other choice would be to build two small roll away bedside tables. I would like to spend no more than $100.

Final Project Ideas: David Kramer

I was thinking of building a table specifically used to hold heavy objects, so I will need to implement trusses! Here are some examples of tables with trusses...Image result for truss tableImage result for truss table
A bench would also be a great idea, as I would have to build lower, which would be easy to build.

I'm willing to spend between $30-$100 (this may change).

Final Project Idea [Jesse Schulman]

I am planning to make a rolling table to store the pocket-hole machine on.

product

It will include a drawer or shelf (maybe with little cubbies instead of one big shelf) to store screws and other materials in.

Material Ideas:
I'm planning to make it out of wood. I imagine I can make it mostly out of 2x4 and 1x4 from the Scene Studio, and maybe some plywood for the shelves. Four casters should be enough to keep it rolling.

Casey Deal's Final Project

Hello!

I am thinking for this final project I would make a pantry for my dorm room to keep snacks in! Right now I am storing them all on a bookshelf which does not look nice and sometimes things fall out. I am hoping to create something around the micro-fridge that come standard in every dorm room.
Something like this but obviously smaller and with doors on the front of the cabinets on top and some shelves on the right side of the structure.
The shelf on the side would just be very basic and simple with about 4 shelves in it. Also the space the fridge goes in could have optional shelves for the future when I no longer live in a dorm room with a micro-fridge.

My budget for this project is $50.
