I began on a freezing Sunday afternoon after not showing up the full week before where I scheduled to work. I began by pocket screwing the pieces of plywood to attach them to the 1x4 frame. I then attached the bottom 3/4" plywood to the 1x4 frame.
I continued attaching the other plywood pieces to the frame. The middle shelf hindered me from attaching the top plate, so I had to screw and unscrew the middle shelf quite a bit, which ended up deteriorating the plywood. I then had to glue the screwed attachments to keep it more supported. The shop closed the first day as I was attaching the top plate, so I left it for the next day.
The next day I was focused on attaching the lauan and legs, possibly finishing if I had enough time. I decided to change the design slightly to give the open face side more of an opening. I decided to place the lauan flush with the shelves rather than flushing it with the frame. I had to attach a 3/4" rail so that I could staple the lauan flush to the plywood. It turned out more aesthetically pleasing than the original design. I attached the pre-made table legs with top plates in a 3" offset from the bottom plywood piece. I then edge banded the open plywood edges to clean up the look. My last step was sanding off the imperfections and the project was complete.
